Florida

As the MLBA commences a new year in its brief history, the board of directors has renewed its goal to increase its membership and enhance the benefits of membership. To that end, the MLBA is working towards increasing the frequency of its CLE credit luncheons to further assist our members with meeting applicable Florida Bar requirements. The MLBA provides area businesses with the opportunity to sponsor the CLE luncheons which provides an additional forum for interaction with our members. Also, the MLBA is providing enhanced internet visibility of its members and their respective firms via a new MLBA website, which includes a detailed listing of the members contact information, practice areas, and website links. Additionally, effective in 2010, the MLBA has opened its membership to students of the area law schools including the University of Miami, Florida International University, St. Thomas University, and Nova Southeastern University (NSU). This will allow law school students to interact and network with judges, lawyers, and other professionals in the legal field as the students look to enter the profession. Students members will learn from legal experts and scholars who will speak on a variety of current legal topics.
