About Me

"Emiranda Carcani is a founding member of the Illinois law firm, Lex Scripta, LLC. Emiranda’s professional experiences span the array of sectors in the legal profession, including work in the judiciary, academia, and public interest. Prior to forming Lex Scripta, LLC, Emiranda won 3rd prize in the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys’ 2010 Law Student Writing Contest. While attending New England Law | Boston, she interned as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Judge Robert Tochka in the Roxbury District Court in Massachusetts. Additionally, she worked as a Student Attorney with an interest in family law cases at the NESL Clinical Law Office. Also, Emiranda interned at Greater Boston Legal Services’ Immigration Unit focusing in Asylum and Refugee work. She focused her research on asylum claims for Guatemalan refugees.  Her experience and work at GBLS is a great resource for the Firm in its pro bono publico work in the areas of refugee and asylum law. An academic standout at New England Law | Boston, Emiranda won the New England Scholar Award twice and served as an Associate Editor for the New England Journal of International and Comparative Law. In Emirnada’s final year of law school, she won the CALI award for receiving the highest score in her Trial Practice class. Also, she represented her law school as a participant in the renowned Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition."
